Update 3: February 2013: The House cybersecurity bill that allows the National Security Agency and the military to collect your private internet records is scheduled for another appearance on Wednesday. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers (R-MI) and Ranking Member Dutch Ruppersberger (D-MD) will reintroduce the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA), which news reports say will be the same bill that passed the House of Representatives last year.

Update 2: CISPA and CSA failed in the Senate! Yay! But it's important to keep notified about similar bills - so be sure to drop by Privacy is Awesome to sign up and be notified when your help will be needed again!

Updated:
CISPA has passed the House of Representatives vote while having some amendments added onto the original bill that are supposedly meant to "moderate" its effects, but in actuality will do the opposite.

CISPA (Cyper Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act) gives the government access to our personal information in a whole new way. It allows both private business and the government to share information about cyber threats.

Cyber threats are supposed to be anything making "efforts to degrade, disrupt or destroy" vital networks. Or anything that makes a threat or misappropriation of information owned by the government or private businesses.

CISPA is built with companies in mind, so we likely will not see any blackouts in protest, like Wikipedia had.

Super-SOPA CISPA (UPDATED)EDIT Adding some links to Petitions. Here and Here I didn't really jump on top of SOPA when it was big, but fancy me - always being late to the party - I just learned about CISPA, and that it is being voted on today, April 23.  So I'll just leave this information with you - folks, I expect you'll do the right thing by calling your representatives and letting them know your feelings on the subject...   Cispa Sponsors confident of the bill's passage.
