
Taking advantage of someone's low points in life (such as a friend's/family member's death for example) as an opportunity for you to convert them to your religion is incredibly insensitive, underhanded and just plain wrong. If you have to resort to tactics like that to change someone's mind, that sure says a lot about you and your position!

I've had Christian friends that, when I turned to them for support during a particularly rough time, would recite the same "GOD WILL MAKE THINGS BETTER
" speech. Like, no; I didn't want help from something I don't believe in; I wanted help from a physically real person.And all of the stuff I see about how school shootings or natural disasters are caused by people rejecting God so oh man y'all better start converting if you want less kiddies to die!

The fact of the matter is when people are down on their luck they are much more open to suggestion which makes sense. If people are doing well they often just continue on as they are.
You can judge a strategies morality to your heart's content, but as long as said strategy remains effective it will be utilized.
As an aside Judaism isn't really a major religion as it only has about 45 million followers and is thus dwarfed by Hinduism and Buddhism.
When people group Judaism, Christianity and Islam they usually call them the three Abrahamic religions as they all recognize Abraham and consider him an ancestor.
A church one of my friends went to actually encouraged their followers to do this.
