A short definition of intactivism: Intact + Activism; The body and sex positive movement for the protection of the bodily - especially genital - integrity of boys, girls, and intersex individuals, especially children and infants, especially from forced circumcisions and "correctional" genital cutting, which are rooted in sexism, fear of the unknown, hatred of sexuality, and disdain for children, others, and their feelings and rights.

You know... I'm not entirely sure how I got here (kinda like the YouTube trail effect) and I'm not entirely sure why it just stuck me because this paticular event is likely to be very, very far away from this point in my life but...
I just realized, if I have a boy someday, I have no idea where I would stand on this issue. Granted, I've heard more convincing arguments from the side supported by this stamp.
In all honestly, I'm almost inclined to believe the tradition started at all because it was a lot easier way back in the day to just circumcise rather than provide every family with detailed directions of how to properly wash under the foreskin. But today? Hell, we got the internet.
The only thing I'm for male circ is that it is deemed medically necessary to achieve normal working function. Other reasons I am um.... anti-male circ.
Same for female circ... whatever a medical necessity there is, if any otherwise it is wrong to remove... um... essentially "body parts"
And actually, now that I've learned more about male circ, I don't think it is really ever medically necessary either. In fact, the only real benefits it provides can be achieved by by properly washing under a fully intact forskin. Many argue the little extra time bathing is worth it.
I used to be pro MALE circ, and now I see everyone fighting and getting so worked up over it (not the good people who discuss NICELY, but the bat-shit crazy people who flip out over it) and I am basically 50/50 and I don't care.
That's good that you were willing to do research about it! I think that far too many people don't take the time to actually research the things that they hold strong opinions over. Great job!

Then, I did research and it became one of the few things that makes me angry.
