I know this one's a bit mean sounding, but this one is partially not as serious as the other stamps I do sometimes. I don't actually think that people who endorse conversion therapy are stupid. I just think that the idea is stupid, and potentially dangerous if people are pushed into it unwillingly.
I think if anyone willingly subjects themselves to that therapy has the right to make that choice, I dont think anyone has a right to say what people can choose for their life. If they want to stop being gay that is their business.
People shouldnt feel pressured into being gay, anymore than they should be pressured into being straight.
Of course it should be illegal to force children into such a program . . .which is odd that this was ever even a thing because I have never known a person younger than 16 to be 100% sure of their sexuality . . . gay or straight.
every single stamp that says "it is not a choice" is denying everyone a basic human freedom through an ideology born of a pathetic attempt to appeal to republicans by appealing to the "all men are created equel" thing
Uh, you know, basically emotions denying freedom at some level. Being gay or straight, depends what "part of it" do you mean. Cuz you people date the gender they are attracted to, and I don't think you can change who you are attracted to.
Look, I dont want to get into it too deeply. But I will simplify how I "FEEL" okay, I feel that denying the idea that homosexuality is a choice is to deny people the right to be homosexuals on their own terms. Because if it is not a choice, if it is genetic or developmental... then it is curable.
and before you say "that is like curing a person for having an arm" ... yeah I know, but think in terms of x-men... mutants were curable, but it doesnt make it right. And concerning curing a person for having an arm... yeah we do have a "cure" forthat too, its called axe.
It depends what do you mean under homosexuality. The attraction to the same gender, or gay sex, or same-sex dating. If we mean attraction, I hear all homosexuals saying that it's not a choice, so I believe them cuz I think they know their own stuff. I mean they should probably notice if it were a choice, right? I think it is a choice to hang up with whoever you want, but can you imagine, that you start thinking, like: "oh I think I should fall in love with him/her. Yep, that's a good idea, I'm falling in love in two minutes".
So I think it is a choice to date what gender you would like, it's a choice what gender you would like to have sex with, but I always hear gays taking about realizing their preference, not choosing it. So how do you change an emotional attraction?
And you talked about free will, well, I think basically our instincts restrict our free will at some extent. Not fully, but partially. Near-death situations are good example of them limiting free will.
I don't think they really understand that sexuality can be very fluid and that fluidity is various among alot of different people -- meaning not everyone is the same. I'm not big on getting people to convert anyway...
Homosexuality is wired into the brain.. But the Brains wiring can change with time. I have Asperger's Syndromeand Pan-sexuality... Let me tell you it has been a bumpy ride but the Asperger's has gotten better!
My Dad over heard me and my Mom talking about how unsuccsessfull those therapies are. He said he knew a guy who went through it and was no longer gay. I told him his friend was living a lie and I got grounded for 2 days. :/
Yeah, research has found that almost (something precent I dont remember but I know it was alot) that people who went through the consintration-I mean-Gay camps where still gay, it just made them feel guilty about who they where.
Yeah I really hate hearing about the things that go on in those places - most of them are just the 'pray the gay away' thing it seems, but some of them... Well, the young man at the end of this video shares a very different story, it breaks my heart.
