Stamp: God Doesn't Degrade Women

This was supposed to be a rant about the Bible and all that, but one particular sentence in =RebiValeska's description of her stamp got to me. Plus, the people who left comments on her stamp said it far better than I probably could have. So, my apologies for the giant description and rant about the statement, "Feminism is based in arrogance" .

Feminism truly began in the 19th and 20th centuries, back in a time when women did not have the right to vote or to run for office. Women had a "proper" role, one dictated by conduct books as the "feminine ideal." They did not have an equal standing in the world of men. They were told how much to spend on beauty supplies in order to satisfy the annual beauty needs of every woman. They had to face constant humiliations in the workplace, such as gibes at their mental processes, sexual jokes and aggression, invisibility except as sexual objects, and cold demands for more efficiency:

Do not sit here and tell me that feminism is based on arrogance. Do not demonize feminists if you enjoy the rights that they won you. If you hate feminists so much, then how about you go back to the way things used to be? In fact, here's a little checklist to get you started:

☑ Give up your right to vote.
☑ Give up any hopes of being anything more than a housewife or something more "suitable" for a woman to work as.
☑ Get used to being regarded as an object instead of a human being.
☑ Say nothing when they talk about how your sweet little mind just can't seem to wrap around concepts.
☑ Learn to like it when men aggressively come at you when they're feeling particularly horny, because you are not a person - you are a sex object.
☑ Accept your fate as a second-class citizen.

I mean, you certainly don't want to be one of those horrible, arrogant feminists, oh no. Because you're right. Wanting equal rights for all sexes is soooo arrogant.
