Stamp: Sharia Law by 8manderz8 Stamp: Sharia Law by 8manderz8
It's so easy for me as a stampmaker to focus on Christianity, especially since I come from a fairly Christian background. However, I realized I have little to no stamps focused on Islam. So, I'll try to focus on that a little more.

And please, don't try that "but Islam badabadabada this blablabla multiculturalism bla bla bla YOUSARACIST!" stuff on me. It won't work. Also because religions =/= race.

Sharia Law - Wiki

In Indonesia, Sharia police in Aceh caned a homeless "punk" couple nine times on Friday after they were caught having premarital sex in public and for dressing like punks.

In December, more than 60 young punk fans were detained at a concert and forced to undergo a 10-day "moral rehabilitation" camp run by police. They had their hair cut/shaved, were forced to bathe in a lake, wear conservative clothes, and pray.

Only Muslims can be charged under Sharia Law, though the non-Muslim community is expected to follow some of the rules out of respect.

If you have some links to share on this topic, please feel free to post them and I will add them to this description.

One Law for All UK No Sharia law campaign.

Not all of Indonesia is run by Sharia. Only Aceh has it. In the rest of Indonesia, there's no shortage of guys who dress horribly and grow their hair any way they want. (Sharia does not require men to have shaved heads. I know Muslim guys with hair twice as long as my hair.)

In Germany we have already a kind of parallel justice, but the politics now want to do something against it and this is good. It can not be that religious-minded laws undermine the legal monopole of a sovereign state.

Actually things can be so easy: the Sharia is the religious law of Islam, so it has something to with faith, a religious way of life. But a faith can never be the same as the rational thinking with its enlightened ethics. Exactly this thinking was the base of the modern laws in Western countries, where people all seen as equal. If people have problems with these laws, they have to move to other countries. And I know many Muslims who think the same.

Good thing they're against parallel justice now. I always hated parallel justice, law should be the same for everybody. Muslims included.
Parallel justice doesn't help integration of minorities. as opposite, it encourage exclusion.

Damn they have already put Sharia Law in Brunei now and the non Muslims have to follow which sucks and if I steal then they would cut off my hand and Brunei banned any non-Muslim religious stuff, and limited churches number and they build mosques without limit . I am not sure If I choose between Shia or Sunni Islam.

But I want  people to have freedom of religion. Like in Singapore

Well I am proud of my country and the sultan is good although his father manage to keep Brunei on the map or else Brunei is erased from history (We did not accept to join in the Malaysian Federation, but the Brunei People's Party rebel for democracy) Well the Monarchy has running down since the 14th century damn Brunei use to be big now the British took it all away
(Damn You Raja Brooks!)

If only the Sultan could stop these medieval like laws or only abolish the Religious Court then we could be free. But then whats sucks for my Muslim friends they can't go for a Scholarship or University if the don't finish their religious teaching.

I just want to be a Diplomat of any  Asian country (Including Israel, Iran and North Korea) Just to get away from this stupid law. Damn my country religious authorities.

I am still not sure if Brunei is gonna apply Death Penalty on people who are smuggling drugs  (like Indonesia which sucks)

my biggest problem with sharia law is that they overrule any over law, which greatly undermines and discriminates against other cultures. They promote this enclave society amongst themselves which frowns upon being friends with non-muslims, marrying non-muslims is forbidden without being abandoned by family and friends (especially those who are devout). I've seen areas in my own town become no-go areas especially for white people because of fear of attack and fanatical Sharia courts are to blame aswell as the government for allowing them to do whatever they want because it's their 'religious right' to do so.

Any religious law is BS. Religion has zero logic to it and generally relies on the use of force against others.

Just look around the world it could do with sharia! The current economic system is a shambles and it is about to crumble! The societies are full of paedophiles, rapists, thieves, the politicians/elite being the biggest thieves but to name a few! The penal system doesn't work just look at the number of re-offenders.
Please dont blindly just accept what the media says, there isnt a single country that implements sharia holistically, so for certain countries to punish individuals in the name of sharia is a complete fallacy Saudi Arabia (usurpers) and Indonesia included.
Please do read up about the harmony that was whilst under the caliphate (the only time sharia was implemented in history).
I only say this to make you think, the general view in the media is the view of the capitalist view and why shouldnt they portray it like that, they are only protecting their ideology.
I would be up for discussion to clarify about sharia but not personal swearing etc.

The problem with implementing Sharia law is that it puts forth the idea that everyone is Muslim -- which obviously not everyone is. Not everyone is one, not everybody wishes to be one, and so it makes absolutely no sense to force people to live under laws which are religiously associated with Islam. And in particular, this would especially not work in countries with secular governments, as under Sharia Law, mosque and state are not separate.

You talk about how politicians can be awful - sure, this can be true. However from what I understand - Caliphs are the heads of state, and can hold office by force. They are also exempt from being charged with serious crimes. Crimes like murder, theft, and even potentially rape. How is that better?

I do not agree with many religions, and Islam is one of them. The Bible and the Quran are both full of intolerance, cruelty, violence, and I do not believe that either of these books have a place in the 21st century. To enforce laws set by these books would be morally wrong -- which is precisely why western countries do not do this, otherwise we'd be stoning our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters to death, killing people who work at all on the Sabbath, and other ridiculous stuff.

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate having a good discussion so that we become more enlightened. Just wanted to clarify a few points.

"Sharia law is that it puts forth the idea that everyone is Muslim"
Sharia/Islam is an Ideology so it would protect it's values just like any ideology whether that be capitalism etc etc. So when France and other secular countries ban certain Islamic values such as dress codes etc, it is too making sure that it protects its values by the systems that it has in place.

"Caliphs are the heads of state, and can hold office by force"
No they cannot, they must be appointed by the people, Islam gave women the right to vote 1400 hundred years ago.

"They are also exempt from being charged with serious crimes. Crimes like murder, theft, and even potentially rape."
Can you please provide proof of this? There is a state mechanism that allows the people to hold accountable the caliph for his corrupt actions incidentally there is a special court just for executive members of the state.

Islam sets out values to maintain a harmonious society for all without deviating from it ever, muslims believe in a creator who knows the instincts and organic needs of humans and has regulated in a way that is suited for humans to interract in society without suppressing or liberalising natural human needs which ultimately leads to corrupt thoughts and concepts in societies.
