:bulletpink:The Alabama Supreme Court ruled doctors can be sued for the death of an unborn, pre-viable child.

Arizona

:bulletpink:Arizona Legislature is considering bills to de-fund Planned Parenthood, allow doctors to withhold information from patients to prevent abortions, and to allow employers to opt out of contraception coverage for religious reasons. The contraception bill also would allow employers to demand women provide reasons for why they are using birth control and allow for firing if it is for non-medical reasons. Republican Rep. Terri Proud wants to make a law that would force women to witness an abortion before having an abortion.
:bulletpink:The Arizona state Senate passed a bill that would allow doctors to conceal information about disabilities or deformities affecting a fetus in order to prevent abortions.
:bulletpink:Proposed Arizona prenatal nondiscrimination act allows men to block abortions.

Arkansas

:bulletpink:Arkansas-based conservative group attempts to get a ballot initiative that would define life as starting at conception. The state's Attorney General rejected the petition.

Colorado

:bulletpink:A Colorado bill, which passes the state House, would increase penalties if a person hurts a woman and causes death or injury to her unborn child. Critics say it effectively criminalizes abortion.
:bulletpink:Colorado's Supreme Court approves a ballot initiative for a constitutional amendment that would prohibit a woman from terminating a pregnancy for any reason.

Florida

:bulletpink:Florida passes a bill requiring a 24-hour wait before an abortion, and requires that clinics be owned by doctors.
:bulletpink:Personhood Florida launched a two-year push to get a fetal personhood initiative on the ballot in 2014.

Georgia

:bulletpink:The house passed HB 954 (fetal-pain bill), which would ban abortions after 20 weeks even if the baby is not expected to live.
:bulletpink:Rep. Terry England, speaking on HB954, does not see a problem with requiring women to carry to term a fetus that is already dead or is not expected to survive outside the womb. "Life gives us many experiences," he explained. "I've had the experience of delivering calves, dead and alive — delivering pigs, dead and alive. … It breaks our hearts to see those animals not make it."
:bulletpink:"Prenatal Murder" Law Could give Death Penalty for Miscarriages

Idaho

:bulletpink:The Idaho Senate passes a bill requiring an ultrasound for women seeking a abortion, as well as providing a list of providers of free ultrasounds. The catch? Those providers are mainly crisis-pregnancy centers run by pro-life groups and the ultrasounds performed there may not meet the requirement of the law, necessitating a second procedure.

Kansas

:bulletpink:Topeka decriminalized domestic violence in late 2011, hoping to balance their budget.
:bulletpink:Kansas offers a sweeping anti-abortion bill that would allow doctors to withhold information about birth defects, require women to hear a fetal heartbeat, and force doctors to inform women about a disproved link between breast cancer and abortions.

Mississippi

:bulletpink:Prevents legal abortions after six weeks, or when a fetal heartbeat is detected. For women having partial miscarriages where there is still a faint heartbeat, her life must be in critical danger before receiving medical care to treat the miscarriage. 10-25% of all pregnancies end in miscarriages. "The bill would ban abortion after six weeks which violates Roe v. Wade. It would forces women to prove they have been raped. It would force women to be raped by the state. And it would define life as beginning at conception, a concept Mississippi voters overwhelmingly defeated last fall. "
:bulletpink:Mississippi SB 2692
:bulletpink:Mississippi passes a measure aimed at closing the state's only abortion clinic.

Michigan

:bulletpink:HR #185 Passed out of the House (67-39) on 2/9/2012 Respect for Rights of Conscience Act of 2011: A resolution to urge the President of the United States to reverse the Department of Health and Human Services regulation that employers provide health insurance that covers birth control without co-pays under the guise of "religious freedom".

:bulletpink:Senate Bill #975  Referred to Committee on Health Policy 2/16/12 Respect for Rights of Conscience Act of 2011: would allow those who purchase or sell health insurance plans to deny coverage for an objectionable service. Allows health facilities that object to a certain service to refrain from providing that service; and employees of a health care provider may request reassignment to other duties if asked to perform or assist with a service that violates their religious convictions.

:bulletpink:Senate Bill # 013 Introduced in Senate (1/19/11), House sent to Committee on Families, Children, and Seniors(11/3/11), joint resolution filed by House on 11/4/11. The Personhood Law, would amend the state's legal code to include "fetus" as part of the definition of "individual" in every part of the law. An embryo becomes a fetus at 11 weeks, therefore this would ban abortions after 10 weeks of pregnancy. If a woman has an abortion after 10 weeks of being pregnant she could be prosecuted for murder. This law would open up miscarriages to criminal investigation. It also would ban hormonal birth control and emergency contraception.

:bulletpink:Senate Bill # 0025/ House Bill #4119 Passed by Sentate (12/9/11), House Referred to Committee on House Policy Disposal of Fetal Remains Bill, would tighten regulations of how the remains of an aborted or miscarried fetus are handled. The fetal remains would be considered a body at 10 weeks of gestation. The disposal of the fetal remains would be required to be disposed of as a human corpse rather than medical waste. One intent of this bill is to change the way women view early pregnancy. A woman would be forced to make a decision to bury or cremate the remains. This bill would also create regulatory and fiscal burdens on clinics and hospitals that provide abortions.

:bulletpink:Senate Bill 0135: "The parental rights restoration act" Senate Passed (3/29/12), House referred to House Judiciary Committee (3/29/12) "Parental Notification for Abortion" further restricts a minor's ability to obtain an abortion without parental consent. The bill moves the venue from Probate to Family Court. A minor must prove to the judge a "sufficient level of maturity" by using her personal life, academic achievement, and career goals. The bill also makes it impossible for the minor to appeal the court's decision.

:bulletpink:SB161 Senate Bills 0160-0161/ House Bill 4109 Signed into law (ASSIGNED PA 0168'11) WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT (10/13/11) Partial Birth Abortions: This law bans partial birth abortions and mirrors the federal "Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act" law. Neither the federal or state law takes into account the mother's health and it prevents doctors from using their best medical judgment .

:bulletpink:Senate Bill 0313, Senate Bill 150/ House Bill 4433 Referred to Committee on Health Policy 4/12/11, 2/16/11, 3/15/11The Ultra Sound Bills: These bills are all aimed at forcing women to have an ultra sound at least 2 hours before an abortion is performed with the most technologically advanced equipment available. The bills further state that the monitor must be aimed at the patient, so the only way a patient can waive this option is to turn her head and close her eyes. In early pregnancy, the most technologically advanced ultra sound would be an extremely invasive trans-vaginal ultra sound. This could be considered an equivalency to state sanctioned rape. This further burdens the doctors to have to perform unnecessary medical procedures.

:bulletpink:Senate Bill 0420/ House Bill 4688 Referred to Committee on Health Policy (6/8/11) / (5/31/11) Prescription of Medical Abortions: These bills are aimed at prohibiting the prescriptionof drugs to chemically induce an abortion without a prior physical examination. This would
severely limit a woman's ability to get an abortion, especially in rural areas. This would also restrict emergency contraception which is available to women 17 and older without aprescription.

:bulletpink:Senate Bill 0523/ House Bill 4715 Referred to Committee on Health Policy (6/23/11) / (6/8/11) Regulating Abortions after 19 Weeks: These bills would make it mandatory that all abortions performed past 19 weeks take place in a hospital where a neo-natal unit is available to potentially save the life of the infant that may have been delivered alive after an attempted abortion. This limits access to abortion and is contrary to Roe V. Wade. It also would greatly limit late term abortions which are mostly done for medical necessity of the mother.

:bulletpink:Senate Bill 0612, 0613, 0614/ House Bill 4143, 4147, 4776 All Senate Bills were referred to the Committee on Health Policy which recommended immediate effect 12/8/11. All House bills were referred to the Committee on Health Policy (1/26/11, 1/26/11, 6/16/11).Health Insurance Ban: These bills prohibit state health insurance and any private plan to cover abortion, except through the purchase of an additional rider—which does not exist. There are no exceptions for women's health, rape, incest, or fetal abnormality.

:bulletpink:Senate Bill 0876 Referred to the Committee on Insurance 12/8/11 Liability Insurance for Abortion Providers: Physicians will be required to carry a minimum of a $1,000,000 liability coverage if they perform 5 or more abortions per month AND has been subject to 2 or more civil suits in the past 7 years or has been found noncompliant with health & safety requirements or has received sanctions. In effect, thiswould make it more costly and difficult for physicians to continue providing abortions in their practice.

:bulletpink:House Bill 4798, 4791, 5134, 5181, 5182 All bills passed favorably out of the Senate judiciary committee 5/1/12 Anti-Coercion Bills: These bills make it a crime to coerce a woman into having an abortion, but not a crime if a woman is coerced into having the baby. A person could be fined $5000 if they coerced an adult woman into have an abortion, and $10,000 for a person who coerced a minor into have an abortion. These bills also mandate an unnecessary oral screening to prove the woman has not been coerced into having an abortion . An additional 24 hour wait period would be invoked if it is determined the woman was coerced.

:bulletpink:House Bill 5242 Referred to Judiciary Committee 1/11/12 State Funding for Abortion Providers: The state shall not allocate state funds through grants or contracts to any providers of abortion services. This will effectively defund PlannedParenthood and other smaller women's health clinics.

:bulletpink:House Bill 5343, 5344 Referred to Committee on Health Policy 2/2/12 Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act: These bills prohibit abortion at 20 weeks. It makes a slight exception in cases where the death of the mother is eminent. It does not make exceptions for rape, incest, or mental health (suicidal) behavior.

The questionnaire doesn't include the woman's name or "any information specifically identifying the patient," but it does ask for age, race, level of education, marital status, number of previous pregnancies, and the county in which the abortion was performed, information which opponents of the bill argue would be enough to identify a woman in a small town. The questionnaire also asks about the mother's reason for the abortion, her method of payment, and even what type of insurance she has, as well as whether the fetus received anaesthetic and whether there was "an infant born alive as a result of the abortion."

:bulletpink:Texas has transvaginal ultrasounds similar to the ones in Virginia tried to enact, and they have been upheld by a Federal Judge in Texas.

:bulletpink:Perry cut funds to Planned Parenthood which led to the end of services for medical care for the women in the Women's Health program, 44% of whom used Planned Parenthood for their care. The federal government matched funds for this program, 9 to 1, the fed providing 9 times the amount the state contributed. I dont see how these are "anti- women" (Just wondering is there any "opression" of women that does not have to do with abortion?)
